[SMOKIN!] City Barbeque Secures Site in Suwanee

City Barbeque, the Dublin, Ohio-based barbeque restaurant that officially opens its first Atlanta area location today in Decatur, has signed a lease on its second metro location.  Joining the newly constructed freestanding restaurant in Decatur Crossing will be a location in Johns Creek Town Center on Peachtree Parkway in Johns Creek/Suwanee.

The Johns Creek/Suwanee restaurant will open in place of Applebee's, which closed its freestanding outparcel restaurant in the Kohl's and Lowe's anchored center this past May.  The new restaurant will be about 5,200 square feet, about 1,500 square feet bigger than the Decatur location.  Restaurant representatives told ToNeTo Atlanta that renovations to the space should begin in October and that the restaurant is expected to open late next spring.

City Barbeque is a counter service, quick-serve restaurant but its presentation and quality lend itself to a more upscale experience.  The restaurant uses Ole Hickory Pits smokers and in the case of the Decatur restaurant, named their three smokers: Lil Jon, Big Boi and Ludapits.

The first City Barbeque opened in Columbus, Ohio in 1999. The Decatur restaurant is the chain's 33rd overall location.  City Barbeque is reportedly looking to add at least two other Atlanta area locations in the years to come.

Have you ever been to a City Barbeque?   Where should City Barbeque open next?  Where is your favorite barbeque in Atlanta?
