After Alpharetta, Adobo Aims for Atlanta Next Year
Adobo Taqueria & Tequila Bar plans to open a new location in Buckhead next year. The Mexican eatery will open in Lenox Village on Lenox Road in place of what was most recently Vine & Tap. Vine & Tap, which was primarily a tapas and wine bar for much of its existence, closed this past April after roughly three years in business.
Vine & Tap suffered a serious fire prior to opening and had to basically rebuild the restaurant's interior. That said, and despite the fact that the space has played host to a number of restaurants - Pizzeria Venti and Cedars Mediterranean among them - Adobo inherits a far newer space than one might think.
Adobo has one existing location in Alpharetta at the Publix-anchored Abbotts Village on Johns Bridge Road near Abbotts Bridge Road. The Alpharetta Adobo is 4,000 square feet whereas the Buckhead outpost is roughly 2,800 square feet. The Buckhead location, like the Alpharetta location, will feature an outdoor patio.
The menu at Adobo is largely what you'd expect from a taqueria with assorted enchiladas, nachos, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, as well as "house specialties" along with egg (huevos) and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant also features assorted mojitos, margaritas and an extensive tequila selection.
Red Pepper Taqueria, an intown eatery, has two existing locations that Adobe is basically opening between. Red Pepper operates one location at the corner of LaVista and Briarcliff Roads near Toco Hills, and another on Piedmont Road near Peachtree Road in Buckhead.
Sources say that Adobo hopes to open early next year. Adobo is not repeating a recent restaurant concept in its space at Lenox Village, but locals just don't seem to frequent the center in the evening. Frozen yogurt shop Yogli Mogli closed in Lenox Village earlier this summer. It's a center that you see as you sit in traffic on Lenox Road, but not so much of a destination. Perhaps Adobo will market to those sitting in traffic and find success where so many others before them have struggled.
Are you excited to see a restaurant reopen in the Vine & Tap space? Have you ever been to Adobo's Alpharetta location? What is your favorite taqueria in metro Atlanta?
