[UPDATE] Sources Say Bojangles' Chamblee Finally On Track
Over two and a half years after ToNeTo Atlanta first announced their plans, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bojangles' is finally about to start construction on a location on Buford Highway in Chamblee, according to sources close to the development. The new, approximately 3,400 square foot freestanding restaurant would be built in an outparcel of Crossroads Village shopping center on Buford Highway near its intersection with Clairmont Road. A Maaco collision repair facility previously occupied the parcel in question, but was demolished years ago.

It's not entirely clear what the hold-ups were in 2015, but this document from earlier this year indicates that the interpretation of an amendment to Chamblee's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) threw a wrench in the restaurant's development plans. At issue was both the height of the proposed restaurant, as well as its use of a drive-thru.
Sources indicate that a building permit has been requested from the City of Chamblee and is currently being reviewed.
When reached for comment this week, a Bojangles' representative at the company's Charlotte area headquarters said they could not confirm a Bojangles' restaurant at this location. Bojangles' has maintained a similar stance for the past two plus years as ToNeTo Atlanta continued to monitor the project.
If all goes well from here on out, the Chamblee location should open some time during the first half of next year.

The Chamblee Bojangles', like those in Tucker, Doraville and most recently Duluth, among others, will be corporately owned.
A franchised Bojangles' location planned for Memorial Drive near the old Avondale Mall-turned-Walmart in Decatur has been indefinitely shelved, according to sources at the restaurant.
Built about ten years ago, Crossroads Village previously had an El Pollo Loco restaurant which opened in the center in 2008, but closed in 2011 amidst the chain's struggles in the Atlanta market. The freestanding restaurant building later operated as an urgent care facility but today is vacant. A Burger King also opened in an outparcel of the center, and continues to operate.
Crossroads Village is anchored by an Aldi grocery store, but also features over a dozen inline retailers and restaurants. Earlier this year, Havana Sandwich closed its location in the center to focus on its original location at North Druid Hills Road and Buford Highway in Brookhaven. The former Havana now operates as "Cuba Mia," another Cuban eatery.
Are you excited for the addition of a new Bojangles' to Chamblee? Where would you like to see Bojangles' open next? What would you like to see open in the former El Pollo Loco?
